We are moving fast with the development of our products.  To support us get to market we are looking for someone with a unique combination of sound IT operations and commercial experience.  There’s a lot of work to be done. You will have previous experience with integrating a DevOps way of working that uses a mixed source model and all of the complex dynamics that brings.  As well as the commercial capability to develop and manage cost models, engage and manage vendors and service providers, understand licensing models and the levers that need to be pulled to optimise operations.

What you will be doing

  • Building the operations function.  Stability of our products will be key to our on-going success, but also we need to build and grow.  Our operations function will need to be robust and fit for our business size and purpose and be designed to scale and flex over time.  The operations function will support our internal team and our customers
  • Engaging vendors and services suppliers (locally and internationally), setting up agreements and managing supplier relationships
  • Building and managing operational cost (potentially complex models that allow for resource sharing across products and / or customers) models and providing input for product pricing

What are the skills needed

  • Operations design and deep operational understanding of what it takes to run a commercial product in both on-premise and as a service deployment that has local and global customers 
  • Technical knowledge: Solid understanding of agile software development, Dev/ops methods and tools, operational optimisation methods and tools and what is needed to be in place to support these functions and our customers
  • Commercially savvy: Skilled across contracting and contract management, cost modelling and operational cost management, licensing and licence optimisation.  A solid understanding of what’s important to manage and how to optimise our spend while minimising our risk.

What you will be doing

  • Establishing the product and technical reference architecture, technology strategy, design, build and operate best practice and standards and ensuring ongoing adherence to these
  • Working with our customers and internal teams on business needs, requirements, proof of concepts and helping to translate new requests into workable solutions and the delivery of End-to-End (E2E) integrated Solution Architecture and Designs that support these needs
  • Ensuring design constraints are identified and solution choices are informed on appropriate technical and business drivers. Overcoming architecture and design issues and facilitating critical thinking around the designs by working with build and other teams to make pragmatic architecture recommendations based on technical considerations (risk, cost, time etc.)

What are the skills needed

  • At least 5 years’ experience in the IT industry with and qualification relevant to IT or network (including Technology, Engineering, Applied Sciences and Computing) and will likely have been a software developer at some stage of your career
  • Highly technical background. With the ability to contribute to the product architecture and understand how ensure easy integration into client architecture.
  • You will embrace DevOps and CICD culture and ways of working with experienced in test driven development, test automation, pipeline management and deployment automation
  • You should have a deep understanding of architecting and designing solutions, with a specific focus on software integration, enterprise orchestration and bespoke software build

We are looking for someone who is versatile and will enjoy working across the full spectrum of product development and in market activities.

We are open to applicants from all backgrounds but we do think that a level of technical literacy is important for success in the role.  Our products consist primarily of APIs/SDKs for developers, so it helps to be able to get in the weeds with the engineers and as part of solutioning to ensure the features and products we create will be fit for the customers who will be using them.
